38 Years of Skin Care Tips

Let me start by say, I'm not a dermatologist. I am not in the medical field in general, as a fact. However, due to the fact that I lived with dry skin (eczema, psoriasis, call it what you will) for most of my 38 years, I feel somewhat qualified to speak on the topic of skin care. In this article, I will be sharing with you tips, tricks and tips that I discovered through years of trial and error.

If you're reading this, you or someone you know probably has some sort of dry skin. I know from experience how annoying, irritating, and painful one red scaly patches can be. I still remember clearly my senior year in high school when my skin condition got serious, I went with a couple of dry, irritating patches for the large red, blotchy, scaly patches erratic throughout the body (including my face and scalp, OH joy). Take it from me, there is hope - not despair! It takes some time, it takes changing some habits, maybe some diet changes, maybe some emotional changes -., but you can also make themselves better

So, with that being said, the following is my little contribution to skin care tips that will help you get started.

1 Avoid stress!

I list this first because I think it is very important - not only on the condition of your skin, but also to the overall well-being as a person. In all of the information that I have read and heard about the treatment of skin diseases, stress is rarely mentioned.

But I've found that without exception, every time in my life when I let it stress me win, eczema outbreak is not far behind. I'm not saying the stress necessary to cause dry skin, but I believe without a doubt that worsens the condition of dry skin.

to avoid stress and prolong your life, follow these tips:

° Remember the most painful, stressful thing ever to happen in your life. You are to survive, right? Wear it as a badge of honor. No matter how bad, horrible, crazy or hopeless the situation may seem, and it will survive. And when you look at it in retrospect, it probably will not seem that bad.

· Do not sweat the small stuff - and believe me, all the little things

.

° to get right with God. Hey, after receiving salvation, everything else is cake, does not it?

2 Do not spend an hour in a hot shower

If you're like me, it's a difficult question. I absolutely love Take a long, hot, steamy shower (sometimes even while sipping a drink for adults). And, since life is short, I still indulge occasionally. But overall I have cut way back.

If possible, take a shower or bath every other day (if your lucky enough to have an easy job like me, you do not get too sweaty anyway). If you need to bathe daily, keep it short -. Three-minute shower is the best and also helps to conserve water

3 Keep it WET BABY

OK, so you're well. You skipped your shower yesterday, you had only a 3-minute shower today (lukewarm). Now, before you reach the towel, while you still dripping wet, take a nice big dollop of your favorite moisturizer / lotion (for me it was Aveeno, or lotion from Burt's Bees) and rub it all over my body. Let your girlfriend / boyfriend / significant other get back (what, I do not have anyone to get back? It is a whole other book, a friend ).

Now, let the creamy goodness soak into your skin for 60 seconds. OK, now you can grab your towel. But wait! Before drying, read the next tip.

4 Wipe off your butt and not the skin

The title May be some files, but point taken. Delete your skin is the absolute worst thing you can do it! What you need to do is pat your skin dry. Yes, I know you're thinking, "who will know that I do not delete cuddle", and "it will not make that much difference anyway." Which is exactly what I thought when the dermatologist told me to pamper my skin and not wipe it dry. But I was only 16 at that time and did not listen to anything anyone said to me. What's your excuse?

5 Oatmeal BATHS

You've probably seen packages of oatmeal powder on your favorite drugstore. I have one brand (Aveeno) and general ones. Do not be cheap - buy one brand. They are less filler material and efficient.

Whenever I start to switch to the itchy, scaly skin first thing I do is start filling the tub with warm water and pour the oatmeal package under the cap, and mix everything up well. I then proceed to soak for a solid 30-60 minutes. If you get dry skin around the eyes as I do, wet towel in oatmeal water and put over your eyes while you soak. Oatmeal - not just for breakfast anymore

6 Darn My Eyes !!

As I said, when I get it I switch to dry, flaky skin around the eyes. This is absolutely the worst, because it is a very sensitive area, and everything I put around the eyes usually just make things worse. So - the oatmeal bath as noted above, I like to do the following to relieve itching and dryness around my eyes, I cut two thin slices of cucumber and put over my eyes (ok, first I close my eyes). Then I put on my cool gel mask, which is cooled in a refrigerator (available on the pharmacy). I then put it down and de-stress for about 30 minutes to an hour. Repeat if necessary.

When I put the cream around the eyes, I like to use Burt's Bees Honey and milk are mixed.

7 Fish oil - yum, yum

a big part of my success in getting rid of my dry skin, I firmly believe, was my use of dodataka.Dva main ones I take are fish oil and vitamin E, and multivitamins. I used to take fish oil every day, but my skin was actually started getting greasy so I cutback on taking it a couple times tjedno.Vitamina E and I take a multivitamin a day. And in case you're worried, not fish oil capsules do not taste yucky (at least I do not think they do - maybe I'm just used to them though ).

8 Wet the air!

I live in the desert, so the key to beating my dry skin blues was getting air. In fact, I have a two to one on the floor and one on the ground. They can be a hassle, you always have to re-fill water dang things. Then there are the filters you have to buy for them, not cheap. That being said, you have one. Maybe two. They will absolutely help you to pump moisture into the air and on his dry skin.

OK, if you live on the Gulf Coast, and the humidity is 120%, you do not need one. Otherwise, get one. Mine is a Kenmore unit from Sears, works great

.

9 Drink lots of water - DUH

I know, everyone always says to drink eight glasses of water a day. Your personal trainer, a physician at the evening news, your mother - none of them will be closed, but

.

But it's true - drink eight glasses of water a day, and you'll feel and look better. You'll lose weight. You skin will clear up. You will become rich and famous (maybe). You will spend much time wondering why you are re-painted the bathroom.

So I know you already know this, and I know that does not work, so shut up and drink your water.

10 STEP BY soda, beer, margarita, ETC.

Now you're drinking all that water should not be tempted to indulge in your favorite soda or adult beverages. But if you forget about it! Caffeine and alcohol act as a diuretic, making you lose all that water you are what you drink.

OK, maybe not going to give up soda and margaritas (I hope that you are of age, by the way). Which is okay. Just remember, as with all things, moderation is best.

11 DRINK YOUR VEGETABLES

I hate vegetables. Really. Always have, since I was a little kid. I would not be surprised if the lack of vegetables and fruits are not at least contribute to my skin condition.

a few months ago I stumbled over the vegetables in addition to my local Costco. It's called drinkability of fruits and vegetables. It is in liquid form and comes in a green bottle. Contains more than 40 fruits and vegetables, some of which I swear never heard of. I've tried things like this in the past and always, to gag me and so I would be if a few days then give up. This stuff is different,. It's actually a decent taste (my 10 year old son really loves - who contributed to my losing bets and to fork fifty bucks for a game for your Wii, but that is a whole other story)

Anyway, this stuff has increased my energy, I felt better and I believe it really helped my skin. Maybe you're a good person who has already eaten all the fruit and vegetables in your daily recommended allowance (good for you). But if not, get some of these things, or something like -. You'll be glad you did

12 MISCELLANEOUS

OK, here's all the things I forgot to include the above (hey, nobody's perfect). Do not scratch. Scratching is bad. Really bad. I scratch lot, sometimes even in his sleep. I wish I could say I had a really good remedy I found to help me to stop scratching, but the truth is that I married. Which led to me sleeping in bed with his wife. Which in turn led to her slapping hands every time they start scratching. Viola, scratching problem is resolved. It took her a little, but in the end I was conditioned (Pavlov was right). I heard people saying they put socks on your hands to keep them from scratch. Try it, it can work. Or just get married.

Check the products you are trying all hypoallergenic (which basically means non-irritating to the skin). Your skin is probably sensitive, and even some of these so-called hypoallergenic products will irritate. However, things are not hypoallergenic will definitely irritate him.

Use liquid soap. Again, I Aveeno guy, but any liquid soap is way better than bar items.

13 SHAVING

I'm a guy, so I'm talking about shaving my face here (sorry for a woman, I have no advice about leg shaving, but maybe some of these will apply ).

Guys, before you shave you need to clean and prep your skin. I like to use a delicate wash lice.NIVEA Nivea FOR MEN products are great - I have very sensitive skin, and I was able to use the face wash and sensitive after shave balm with great results. For the actual shaving part could use Gillette Fusion HydraGel extremely sensitive and 3-blade razor. To avoid irritating your skin, you need to shave twice - first shave "with the grain," another time "against the grain." Taking this extra step will greatly reduce the irritation and bumps.

14 Weird and freaky dry skin DRUGS

Now, the file strange and curious, here are my favorite weird drugs for the treatment of dry skin. I warn you, I have not tried any of these I (What do you think I am, crazy?)

  • eat shark liver. Or, if you are less adventurous, there may be a shark liver oil capsules?
  • Use your hair conditioner - throughout the body. OK, I think that they are not too weird, but I've never tried it. If you try it and makes hair grow all over your back, do not blame me.
  • mash a banana into a paste and rub on affected areas. Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Beware of monkeys.
  • swim in green tea. I'm not sure how many tea bags need to be nice when green tea, you'll let me know. Bonus points if you actually drink from the tub.
  • Combine the whole milk and mustard into a paste. Apply to the affected areas and leave for 30 minutes. Rub off with the inside of a banana peel (There is a banana thing again - maybe apes know something we do not?)
  • drinking urine (Do not do that before). Popular Science says that drinking urine will cure your dry skin, as well as the common cold, toothache, and baldness. Not sure if you should drink your own or someone else? To Pee!
  • drinking castor oil. Although you may be thinking this is a pleasant alternative to urine possibility of the above, do not be so sure. I actually tried it once when I was young (my father heard from a friend of a friend who tablespoon of castor oil a day will cure my eczema). Well, I tried it. One. Honestly I do not words to describe taste. Get a bottle and try it yourself.
  • other oils: Emu oil, olive oil and coconut oil are all supposed cures for dry skin. Try to treat all three in your next bath, you might invent something new that works ...
  • egg yolk. For dry skin which is oh so tasty, mix egg yolk with a tablespoon of mayonnaise or yogurt and a tablespoon of honey. Apply to the skin, let dry and rinse with warm water. Beware of bears.
